The Society of late.

Young people between the ages of 15-21 often find it difficult to talk to their parents about certain issues ranging from academics, socials, love and relationships even down to health related issues.
For different people they have varieties of reasons why communication with their parents have been strained, but of the major reason why young people find it hard to talk  their parents is because they feel parents won't understand and would end up judging them, so instead they talk to their friends (young people like them) and end up taking advice from them.
This is not wrong, but at the same time parents ought to be the best people to talk to about anything and everything.
The society we find ourselves in has merged the parental role, disciplinary role, friendship role and overseer role into one making it hard for most parents to take a stand, for instance three out of every five girl children tell an outsider about their first menstrual flow before their parents.
Some parents on the other hand have created an environment that doesn't welcome any form of communication with their children. They have drawn the line so far away that to approach them seems impossible.
Parents should know that young people need attention, they want attentive ears and would be quick to pour out their minds to the next available listening ears.
Teach a child in the way he should grow serves as something right?.
